agenda
At the beginning of 2023, the baudoin lebon gallery is presenting an exhibition on colour, with Intervalles by Elissa Marchal. The artist understands colour as both object and subject of her painting. Used as a raw material, the colour-material is poured, then sanded in order to accentuate its materiality and give it body. Through their juxtaposition, their differences in intensity or their reflection, the coloured planes obtained create new spaces and test our perception.
This body of work is an extension of Elissa Marchal's plastic research, which revolves around the coexistence of antagonistic elements. This dialectic between opacity and transparency, surface and depth, visible and invisible takes us beyond painting, towards the intangible, immateriality, offering a minimalist painting marked by spirituality.

For this 25th edition of Paris Photo, baudoin lebon is pleased to present an exhibition focused on portraiture, which will explore two main aspects: the instantaneity of Lisette Model and the staging of Joel-Peter Witkin. Conceived as a performance in three acts, the works will be changed three times over the course of the fair, offering an ever-evolving exhibition for viewers. Highlighting the play between documentation and artifice in the art of portraiture, the selection will be complemented by shots of celebrities from the world of images captured by Gérard Rondeau, Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray and Sacha Goldberger, among others.
