Photo Saint Germain - right bank

11.04.2021 - 11.20.2021

For its 10th edition, the PhotoSaintGermain festival extends its ground of exploration of photographic creation beyond its left bank anchorage, crossing the Seine, and extending to the right bank.
This extended circuit, from the Île Saint-Louis to the rue Chapon, echoes the Left Bank, the historic publishing district. Today, on the right bank, a dynamic map of the creative dialogue between books and photography is emerging.

The thread of itinerary given by the book proposes stops in bookshops redesigned by gallerists, invitations in situ from a new generation of publishers, bookshop-galleries, and unique collections of books. From the curating of books, sometimes rare, to the book that is exhibited, these are all links and current forms - limited edition, artist's book, book-work, or self-published, which regenerate the place of the book in photographic creation.

The circuit is led by Valérie Fougeirol.

America

Franco Fontana has been long known for his landscapes and seascapes which revealed his talented eye for ample, colourist composition dominated by sober, pared back-back lines, and as a result the book Skyline was published in 1978. The inevitable urban tumult of America's sprawling cities might, on the face of it, seem to break with the coherence of Franco'earlier work, with its beautiful lines and painstaking swathes of colour. What was he hoping to find in the great cities of America during his various trip from 1985 to 2011?

Come and discover his original photographs published in the book America by editions Contrejour.
