For this 23rd edition of Paris Photo, the Etherton gallery and baudoin lebon have the pleasure of presenting to the public works of the famous American photographer Joel-Peter Witkin. Known for his singular, baroque and disparate photography, Witkin will be honored in this exhibition with the more significant and iconic photographs such as The Kiss, Las Meninas or Prudence.
Apostle of the strange and the bizarre, the artist transports our eye into a world of multiple references, where beauty meets the macabre. After forty years of an artistic journey with undeniable timelessness, it seems interesting to highlight the abundant iconography of Joel-Peter Witkin. His atypical work echoes ancient mythology, as well as popular culture, history, philosophy or classical painting.
