LE GRAND SOMMEIL
« An old bloody mattress, ripped, burned; this is quite a curious fantasy. I confess its influence but still I cannot explain its reason. No doubt that we can see ? like in the series : Les Maximiliennes ? this effect of transfer that tormented objects can reach when, like me, one cannot stand to confront human suffering. Like a child who would see himself as Zorro, I am only making people believe that I am capable of compassion. Those rags of bristle and cotton are fake entrails, ersatz of pain. In short, they are a way to escape.?
