« Learn from the world, A-Sun Wu, was able to combine cultural legacy he has garnered during his travels, and emergences from occidental art?
Gérard Xuriguera
Born in Taiwan in 1942, A Sun-Wu, travelled the world for a while, moving away from traditional and obligated paths of the art world. The artist tries to express primordial elements he has discovered through the world. From the 70s, A Sun-Wu has travelled in Paris, New York, in Spain, Africa, Amazonia, Indonesia or in the islands of the south pacific. His works of art often express a violent gesture and a gross materiality which is exteriorized in his paintings, sculptures and ?contre-reliefs?.
During the 80s, his work becomes ?primitive? with creations expressing the love of nature, stones, trees, barks, lianas. Thereby, we can distinguish in his artworks, a happy original marriage between Asia and Europe, America, Africa and Oceania.
Unswervingly attached to nature through an exceptional existential experience, A Sun-Wu is now interested in the human being. The human being and his passions.
After having, all his life, travelled the world as a disciple avid to learn, it is as a master he presents his work at baudoin lebon gallery in order to make us discover his recent artworks.
