Introduction

Yves Gellie was born in 1953, in Bordeaux.

After studying medicine at Université Bordeaux II, Yves Gellie practiced tropical medicine for 2 years in Gabon before entirely focusing on photography.

In 1981, he started his photographer career with a first series which subject was the cocaine traffic in Colombia. Soon after, he produced a story on the Ogaden war in Somalia.

For his work on Saudi Arabia, Yves Gellie received an award from the Society of Publication Designer's. In 2003, he received the Merit Award.

During the last fifteen years, Yves Gellie developed a visual work in between documentary and contemporary art. He explored the ambiguous relations existing between photography, reality and experience with the fictional power of images.

Through his photographs, Yves Gellie shows us the link that can unite the real world and the power of images.

He regularly participates in exhibition and events, in France and abroad.
