Chrystèle LERISSE
Introduction
Chrystèle Lerisse was born in 1960 and ever since her beginnings as an assistant at Tours' art school, she has contemplated her artistic career as a black and white photographer without making any concession of subject or format.
Chrystèle Lerisse calls upon a very demanding look. Her work is always set immediatly nearby the visible substance of photographiable things and it explores the surface to reveal their essence. Light is the grammar of her wise practice of photography. We are bound to go beyond any conformist or conventional interpretation, as a result both of the format - in so far as it questions the classical meaning of composition - and its black & white treatment.
Chrystele Lerisse has made exhibitions in France, Europe, USA and Asia. She has published sixteen reference books as a continuation of her original approach/process/style.
She received the Angénieux Price in 1990, and a lot of her works have been added to both public and private collections.
Chrystèle Lerisse is represented by the Baudoin Lebon gallery in Paris.
